Tiny Worlds

Curating years worth of content into a new format takes a lot of time! There’s much more to come, but in the mean time I hope you’ll enjoy what’s here and invite you to return in the future to see how this section expands. Thanks for stopping by!

Dioramas have a long and interesting history with variations on materials and subjects varying from region to region. Meandrous dioramas come in many forms from boxes to teacups to books and often portray idealized landscapes or nature.

See some of Meander Holzer’s dioramas below.

Text reads, "books"

……………………………..

Meander makes artist’s books that portray scenes growing out of the pages of old books and journals. These sculptural books are intended to question the relationship we have with books and whether or not books are a more sacred object than the stories they hold. The series seeks to ask the viewer to question whether we place more intellectual value on stories which are read, as opposed to stories consumed in other ways, and how these social hierarchies of taste and judgement impact people with mental disabilities for whom reading is a challenge.
